Labradoodle and Miniature Labradoodle Breed Info
The Labradoodle is a breed that looks to take the best characteristics of a Labrador Retriever and a Poodle into one dog. Though the Labradoodle is not an AKC recognized breed, they are becoming more and more popular due to the increasing demand for their specific coat and for bringing the best temperament out of the Labrador Retriever and Poodle breeds.
One of the reasons we were drawn to labradoodles and why this breed is continually growing more popular is because of their coat traits. Because a Labradoodle is both Labrador Retriever and Poodle, it takes traits from both breeds to get a solid coat. While Labrador Retrievers have a short double coat built for keeping them warm and dry while hunting in cold conditions, they will shed. On the other hand, the Poodle is known for their curly or wavy coat that is low to no shed and “hypoallergenic”.
